INS Director shares his experience with nuclear newcomers
Ben Whittard has used his expertise to deliver an online workshop for the World Institute of Nuclear Safety (WINS).
The Safety, Security and Environment Director gave his presentation on the risks and challenges involved with understanding effective nuclear security infrastructures.
The key issues Ben spoke on were how do nuclear newcomers think about transport through the nuclear fuel cycle from a security perspective.
Ben is well placed to speak on the subject, having previously worked as a senior inspector for the UK’s Office of Nuclear Regulation, and is the chairman of the World Nuclear Transport Institute’s Transport Security Working Group.
Ben, who is a certified Chief Information Security Officer, said: “Sharing INS’s experience and expertise is an important part of our mission and I hope new entrants, as well as those involved in nuclear new build, can use this webinar to help inform their thinking on transport.
“It’s an area that can be overlooked, but one which plays such as important role throughout the entire fuel cycle.
“The INS team has worked closely with WINS for some time, and is very supportive of the excellent work they do in helping build capacity and capability for nuclear security worldwide. This webinar is another great example of our institutional partnership.”
