INS security director wins prestigious award
INS Director Ben Whittard won the President’s Award for an Outstanding Young Professional at last week’s Security Institute Annual Gala Dinner.
The Security Institute is the UK’s largest professional membership body for security professionals. It works to promote the highest possible standards of integrity and professional competence in the business of security.
Ben’s award celebrates the next generation of security leaders by recognising a Security Institute member under the age of 35 who has had a positive impact on their organisation or the wider security sector.
Ben was recently appointed Director of Safety, Security & Environment at INS following three years as Head of Security & Resilience. He is Chair of the World Nuclear Transport Institute’s (WNTI) Transport Security Working Group and speaks regularly around the world on nuclear transport safety, security and resilience matters.
Speaking after the event Ben said:
“INS is trusted with transporting some of the most sensitive nuclear materials in the world so it’s essential that people have confidence in our security capabilities. To be recognised by my peers is a great personal honour, but credit must also go to the team at INS who play such a big part in making our security capabilities second to none.
The Security Institute plays such an important role in driving the professionalism of security across all sectors in the UK and overseas. If you’re a security professional, or even have an interest in security, I’d recommend joining up.”
