INS welcomes three new members of staff
On Monday 5th December, INS welcomed three new members of staff at the Barrow Marine Terminal. Bernard Payne, Rob Wood and Jackie Ducie have been carrying out their current roles at the terminal for several years as employees of James Fisher Shipping Services but the roles have now been transferred into INS with the individuals transferring under TUPE regulations.
INS Operations Director, Alastair Brown welcomed Jackie, Bernard and Rob into INS and explained that the decision had been made last year to change the management arrangements at the Terminal to bring more clarity of accountabilities. "Previously we had James Fisher employees working to INS procedures to manage the terminal. Under the new arrangements, it is clear that INS both has the responsibility for managing the terminal and employing the management team".
Since the terminal continues to be managed under INS processes, the day to day running of the terminal will not see significant changes but it is intended that the staff transfers will bring the management closer to the Operations team at Risley to provide clearer accountabilities and efficiencies.
