INS in-tune with local choir
Founded in 1977, the present Whitehaven Male Voice Choir has established an enviable reputation among the musical world of male voices in Britain, along with appearances on local radio and television.
The choir is proud to have helped raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity and INS, whose West Cumbrian office is located close to Whitehaven, were very pleased to help the choir, donating £500 in support of the 2011 annual concert.
Sandy MacDonald, choir member, said: “The Whitehaven Male Voice Choir was absolutely delighted when INS decided to provide this financial assistance towards its Annual Concert. There are considerable costs involved and since this is the only performance of the year for choir funds, any sponsorship or contribution is very welcome and much appreciated. The concert was a sell-out and a great success, well received by all the audience. Since a fair percentage of the Choir members are retired or current nuclear industry employees, it was also pleasing to feel that the industry was supporting us in this way.”
Presenting the cheque, INS Communications Manager Jane Foreman said: “The Whitehaven Male Voice Choir not only have a fantastic reputation for their singing in the musical world, but also for all their hard work fundraising. Virtually all their concerts are performed for one charitable organisation or another and many thousands of pounds have been raised in this manner”.
