Nuclear transport experts give hospice a helping hand
International Nuclear Services (INS), the world’s leading shipper of nuclear materials and a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, has donated £2,698 to the Hospice at Home West Cumbria charity.
The money was raised from a variety of charitable activities by employees at its Calderbridge and Warrington offices and was presented to the charity at its base at Workington Community Hospital.
Jane Foreman, communications manager and charity team member at INS, presented the cheque, saying: “Our employees voted to support Hospice at Home West Cumbria, along with two other hospices in the North West, so the commitment has been really strong to raise as much money as possible.
“The charity team has worked hard all year to arrange fundraising activities, the most lucrative of which was a 45-mile charity bike ride, which raised more than £1,000.”
All charity activities at INS are arranged by its volunteer charity team and in the last year have included cakes sales, loose change collections and charity bingo.
Support for the three hospices – the others being St Rocco’s in Warrington and Wigan and Leigh Hospice – all of whom received the same amount, has been extended to the end of the 2011/12 financial year.
