Visit to INS Emergency Response by New Zealand Government

Emergency Response Exercise

International Nuclear Services (INS) recently hosted a successful visit to its Marine Terminal at Barrow-in-Furness, UK, by two representatives of the New Zealand Government’s National Radiation Laboratory (NRL), accompanied by the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT). The visit was arranged as part of the ongoing cooperation between New Zealand and the UK, regarding transport through coastal waters and emergency response arrangements.

This fact finding visit to INS’ facilities by NRL was to view INS’ emergency response procedures and to see an emergency response exercise. The visit also included a tour of the marine vessel Pacific Sandpiper. The visit was very successful, with the NRL representatives being impressed by INS’ arrangements.
