Partnership keeps the lights on
Recently representatives from British Energy, one of our customers, came to Sellafield to say thank you to the Flask Maintenance team who have worked extremely hard to find a solution to a flask related problem that had been first identified some time ago.
John Luke, Head of Fuel Cycle at BE, came to thank the team and to make charitable donations to three of the team’s chosen charities.
The solution came about as a result of the partnership working between British Energy, International Nuclear Services and Sellafield Ltd who, through working together, demonstrated perseverance, engineering skills and craftsmanship.
British Energy wished to express their appreciation to the teams involved and made donations to the British Heart Foundation, the Down's Syndrome Association and Cancer Research UK.
John Luke said, ‘I am delighted to be up here to recognise this major contribution to keeping the UK’s lights on. The work of the team usually goes unsung but it is a vital part of the process.’
Simon Holland, Head of Transportation Logistics for Sellafield Ltd, said, ‘This is fantastic recognition for the team who have worked hard to achieve this.’
Speaking on behalf of INS, Dan Robson, Head of UK Reprocessing Contracts added, ‘It’s great acknowledgment of the co-operation displayed by all parties to meet the needs of our customer British Energy.’
