INS France is managed by General Managers Alastair Brown (also Operations Director for International Nuclear Services Ltd) and Paul Harding.
INS has for more than 30 years managed the safe transport through France of nuclear material between European power stations and the reprocessing plant at Sellafield in the North West of England.
The shipments have included particularly spent nuclear fuel from Germany, Switzerland and Italy, and the return of the recycled products to our European customers.
The return of recycled and waste products to our European customers, using established and reliable proven routes, is of strategic importance to the United Kingdom. In order to safely manage each and every stage of these shipments INS maintains a permanent representation, based in France, to ensure appropriate liaison & technical support in relation to Competent Authorities, our industrial partners, general public, the media and Governmental Departments such as the British Embassy.
Through our subsidiary company Pacific Nuclear Transport Limited (PNTL) INS operates a unique fleet of INF 3 class vessels and has a longstanding partnership with Aréva of France for the safe transport of nuclear material between Europe and Japan.
We also operate one INF 3 vessel and one INF 2 vessel on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), for the shipment of varying types of nuclear and non-nuclear cargos, particularly research material on behalf of customers throughout continental Europe, including France.
Consequently both PNTL and NDA vessels make regular calls to French and other European ports for loading / offloading nuclear and conventional cargos.
INS France provides technical interface support for the proper use and care of INS, NDA & PNTL transport assets within continental Europe.
We support the management of INS activities within continental Europe primarily, but also providing support where required to our global business.
