International Nuclear Services France, previously known as BNFL SA, has significant experience in the transport of nuclear materials, including engineering, logistics, the maintenance of rolling stock and communications with the public and local stakeholders.
Our operations in France are managed by a team of engineers, each having more than 25 years experience in this highly specialised field. This team, in synergy with International Nuclear Services in the UK, provides assurance to the French competent authorities that our transport activities fully comply with national and international regulations.
At our Dunkirk Marine Terminal we have ensured for more than 25 years the safe transport and handling of nuclear materials between European power stations and the Sellafield reprocessing plant in the UK. These activities will continue as recycled nuclear materials in the form of new fuel are returned to overseas customers to produce electricity, and waste in the form of vitrified residues will be returned to their country of origin to be stored there.
Whilst the major focus of our activities is on our site in Dunkirk, we also manage transport operations and trans-shipment activities in other ports (Calais, Cherbourg, Le Havre ...) to meet the requirements of our customers.
