Engineering Analyst / Design Engineer (salary £35k - £40k plus benefits) – Warrington
The Engineering and Package Approvals Section (EPAS) of International Nuclear Services is committed to a programme of expansion to meet the challenges of reorganisation and resurgence within the UK nuclear industry. We currently have a dedicated team of nuclear engineers unique in the diversity of their experience, and are now looking to expand our analysis and design competencies.
INS is therefore looking to recruit permanent staff in the following two areas. In each case, candidates are expected to have a minimum of five years relevant experience, with an Engineering degree in any of the following disciplines; Mechanical / Structural / Nuclear / Aeronautical. Candidates with the relevant qualifications but less experience may also be considered:
Engineering Analyst
To work on analytical assessments which support the design and safety cases for nuclear packages and their associated transport equipment. The role potentially involves a range of analytical fields e.g. structural and impact analysis, heat transfer (steady state and transient) and thermal stress analysis. The role therefore calls for an engineer with experience in a range of FEA fields, or a specialist who is willing and able to increase their capability base. A working knowledge of material failure and vibration analysis techniques would be beneficial, but are not critical to the role. Nuclear experience is not essential, as training will be provided. Applicants should have a working knowledge of explicit and implicit FEA software packages.
The successful candidate will exhibit a high degree of self-motivation and technical competence. As part of a two person team, they will also be accountable for the detailed checking of work completed by the other analyst. Drive, energy, excellent written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to quality and delivery are characteristics which are required of the role.
Design Engineer
To produce detail manufacturing specifications and design drawings using 3D CAD software (e.g. Solidworks). Involvement will be with nuclear packages and associated equipment used in their operation, handling and transport. Experience in the nuclear transport field is considered useful, though candidates with sufficient experience in other areas of engineering design will also be considered.
The candidate shall have the ability to complete scoping hand calculations to underpin mechanical designs and have a working knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing and inspection techniques. The role may also involve field testing of equipment and the subsequent writing of technical reports and experience in these areas would be beneficial.
The candidate selected will exhibit a high degree of technical competence, initiative, drive and excellent communication skills. The ability to self start, react to and solve operational issues, work responsibly without close supervision and to contribute ideas and technical solutions will be a valuable asset.
Interested Applicants should e-mail their CV along with a covering letter quoting which role they are interested in to HR@innuserv.com
