INS licensing and radiation protection experts address congress
INS’s nuclear and transport safety manager, Garry Owen, recently presented to delegates at the 13th International Congress of the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA) in Glasgow in May.
Nuclear transport licensing and safety consultancy are just two components of the complete transport design service offered by INS in the fields of specialist nuclear transports.
Garry, who was supported at the event by Andrew Cook, INS’s environmental radiation protection manager, presented a 15 minute lecture on the transport of nuclear fuel cycle materials on behalf of the World Nuclear Transport Institute (WNTI).
Through his involvement in WNTI, Garry contributes to the formation and maintenance of international regulations on transport safety.
The primary purpose of IRPA is to provide a medium whereby those engaged in radiation protection activities in all countries may communicate more readily with each other and through this process advance radiation protection in many parts of the world. It is a major task for IRPA to provide for and support international meetings for the discussion of radiation protection. The International Congresses of IRPA itself is the most important of these meetings.
