INS completes another successful shipment
INS has recently completed another successful shipment of materials test reactor (MTR) fuel from Germany to the USA, using our INF2 class vessel Atlantic Osprey.
As part of the overall United States Global Threat Reduction Initiative (GTRI), many research reactor operators are in the process of returning some of their nuclear materials to the US for storage in secure facilities. Given INS and PNTL’s extensive experience, companies worldwide request INS to apply this experience to the safe and secure shipment of such sensitive nuclear materials. INS has previously used the Atlantic Osprey vessel to undertake similar shipments from Germany, and this further shipment builds on our track record.
Following the successful voyage, the materials were subsequently transported from the Charleston port to other storage facilities in the US.
Successful shipments such as this recent Germany to US shipment reinforce the UK and INS’ ability to support the safe and secure transport of specialist nuclear materials.
